Hope-Dream-Inspire!

When I quit my job in August 2004, I suddenly had a lot of explaining to do.  When you talk to someone about following your dream you can immediately identify fellow dreamers just by watching for a spark in their eye.  I’ve been able to identify three types of specific responses.

The dreamer: the guy who immediately gets what you are talking about because he has a dream too. The spark in his eye tells you a lot about his dream. He wants all the details because he is probably planning his escape at that very moment or he is already living his dream.

The disheartened dreamer:  the guy who had a dream, but for some reason or another has let it die. The spark in his eye fades quickly and is replaced by that far away look of “I wish I had done things different.”

The dud: the guy who has no idea what you are talking about. He has no spark because he has never dared to dream. He thinks you are crazy.

Several years ago someone gave me a necklace inscribed with the words hope, dream and inspire. I’ve had many opportunities over the years to invest those qualities in the lives of other dreamers. If you are following the progress of my dream pursuit, I hope you will be encouraged and inspired to dream.
